Lynton and Lynmouth are jointly called 'Little Switzerland', you will
probably see why when you look up at Lynton from Lynmouth, it is quite spectacular.
Though small, Lynton is set in one of the prettiest parts of
the Devon countryside.
The town centre is a 2 minute walk from Rockvale and caters
for most requirements, there are Restaurants and Tea Rooms,
a Post Office, Tourist Information Centre, Craft Centre and even
a Cinema.
Lynmouth is just a short distance from Lynton, either a 20
minute walk, a short ride on the cliff railway, or 5 minutes by car. A
very pleasant town, set in a sunny bay at the mouth of
the river Lyn. Among it's attractions are a putting green, a promenade,
a harbour (where boat trips may be booked), and a number of shops and cafes.
Lynmouth is easily accessed from Lynton via the Cliff
Railway which regularly runs up and down the cliffs from
Lynton at the top to Lynmouth at the bottom, last trip back
up at around 7 p.m. (check at the station)
